You
may be wondering how accurate an almanac's forecast can be considering it's put
together the previous year.
You may be
surprised . . .

Last
Summer
Well, to give
you an example of the almanacs' accuracy, the forecast for last Summer had "DROUGHT!"
plastered across the southeast.
In case you
didn't know, the region experienced one of the worst droughts in recorded history.
I've found
that even the weekly forecasts are quite accurate.
This can be
quite handy for planning your gardening activities.
Okay,
what about this Summer?
For a more
detailed forecast, consult your almanac. The general forecast for the U.S. is
as follows:
The Northeast:
warmer than normal to hot in the far northeast; warm with average precipitation
for the rest of the region.
The North
Central States: warm with average precipitation.
Great Lakes/Midwest/Northeastern States: warm with average precipitation..
The Southeast:
warm with average precipitation and very hot in south Florida.
South Central
States: seasonal temperatures with average rainfall..
North and
Southwestern States: Warm and dry.

My favorite almanacs:
"The
Farmers Almanac" & "The
Old Farmer's Almanac"
Planing
by the moon phases rules of thumb
1st Quarter:
Plant above the ground crops that produce seed outside the fruit.
2nd quarter:
Plant above the ground crops that produce seed inside the fruit.
3rd Quarter:
Plant below the ground crops such as carrots and plant bulbs, perennials and biennials.
4th Quarter:
Use this phase only if you are unable to plant 3rd quarter crops in the 3rd Quarter
for some reason; not very desirable and not for 1st and 2nd Quarter crops.
Also consult
your almanac or almanac calendar to make sure your planting day is under one of
these fruitful signs: Cancer (breast), Scorpio (secrets or reproductive organs),
Pisces (feet), Taurus (neck), Capricorn (knees), Libra (reins or arms).
Never plant in Virgo (bowels).
Enjoy
your garden!
